What We Treat
-
Low mood states such as major depression and dysthymia are important to recognize and treat. Equally important is to recognize the presence of bipolar disorder which often times presents during depressive states. It is very important to address low mood when evaluating for difficulties in learning, focus and memory.
-
Incude panic disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorders, mutism, school avoidance in children, obsessive compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. It is extremely important to diagnose and treat anxiety when considering difficulties with learning and focus.
-
A sound and thorough clinical evaluation is what is needed to diagnosis ADHD in children and adults. A large part of my treatment for ADHD is psychoeducation, understanding the diagnosis and its many implications, and discussing techniques and life skills as well as discussing the use of medication. I welcome parents to share copies of their child’s IEP and help families navigate school settings. Understanding ADHD across the lifespan is a special area of interest.
-
Clinical evaluation for autism, possible referral for neuropsychological testing, and ongoing psychiatric support for children and adults across the spectrum.
